Music

The music that I have chosen I think would be relevant for the type of thriller we are doing and would link to the plot we are using. I could imagine this music being played within these scenes we have talked about. We need music that will create suspense when watching it. The music also needs to relate to the genre of out film 'thriller'. When looking for music we need to picture the different type of shots, see if it links in with what is going on.

Initial shots

These are the four pictures that come into our heads when we think of our opening scene. The first picture is an establishing shot of the house, this tells the audience where the film will be set. This can also allow them to guesses what type of surrounding they may use. The second picture is of a kettle, we are going to use and extreme close up or a close up. The steam will then have the titles come through it. This also is the same for the cigarette. The other image is of the bathroom, on the mirror that will be steamed up, we will have the name of the film written on it.

Possible locations

This is the back garden, we could have a fire going. The fire would create a scary atmosphere, the smoke that is being produced we could fade the titles in and out of the smoke.

This is the front room. We could have the fire going, in the fire places, then we could pan, track onto the fire place then the titles will appear.
This is the bath that we could use, where the person will come out from. They're could be candles round the edge of the bath, low key lighting would be used. This would create a scary atmosphere as the audience wouldn't be able to see what was learcking in the darkness, if anything at all.
Kitchen: Yet again we could use low key lighting or we could change the effect of the camera  to make it more scary. The lights of the kitchen appliance could be on, the room being dark make these stand out and the audience would think why are these things on when there is no-one there?

We chose to have a kettle as when it is boiling the steam would be come out of the top of it, we could have to titles to the film appearing out of the steam. The room would also be dark meaning that the kettle would be lighting up, this would have more of a scarier feel to it.

What does a title sequence look like?

This a video that is telling you about what a title sequence should look like in films , I show a number of films and say what they have done in the opening sequence.

What makes a Thriller

We had to think what people would class the opening sequence as a thriller. These are the ideas that we came up with. We asked some people what they thought a thriller should involve, this helped us to come to a decision on what we should involve when thinking to create out opening sequence.

Example Questionaires

This is just a sample of some of our questionnaire, as you can see many people thought that thrillers/ horrors are set in; big houses, forests or hospitals. People said when they think of thriller/ horrors the location needs to be isolated, this makes the audience feel vulnerable  as there is no-one to help them. When people are watching this genre of film they also said that they should see; blood and some sort of weapon.

Vox Pops

This is the vox pops. This is where we asked them if they liked 'thrillers', what would they expect to see within a thriller and do you like cliffhangers in a opening sequence? We've got all there answers within the video. This well aid us when creating our opening as we know what they will expect from it.
